Biography
Dr. Pavel Kavina is a geologist, raw materials analyst, lecturer and representative of Czech Republic in international organizations focused on mineral resources (ISA, IOM) and EC working group and teams focused on raw materials (RMSG, WG Criticality etc.). He was graduated in economic geology and geochemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Charles University, later he fulfilled Ph.D. Degree at Economic Geology in Mining High School – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mining and Geology. Before he joined the Ministry of Industry and Trade (2003) he was working in the Czech Geological Survey (1997-2003). Since 2009 he serves as a Director General of the State Mineral Policy Department in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic responsible for the State Mineral Policy (among others author of the second State Mineral Policy of the Czech Republic, approved by the Czech Government on June, 2017), Raw Materials Diplomacy (among others head of the Working Group for the Cooperation in the field of geology, exploration and mining with: Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Mongolia, Morocco, Albania, and North Macedonia). He is also the lecturer of subjects “Energy Security of Asia” and „Raw Materials and Energy Security of Africa“ in the Metropolitan University Prague, the biggest private university in the Czech Republic.
