Biography
Arne Petter Ratvik has a PhD (Dr.Ing.) in Inorganic Chemistry from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) followed by a post doc at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has industrial research experience related to silicon and ferro alloy production at Elkem and research and production management experience at Glencore (previously Falconbridge) Nikkelverk in Norway. After his industrial period, he has been with SINTEF in different positions (Research Director, Research Manager, Sr. Research Scientist), except for a 4 year term as Head of Department of Materials Science at NTNU. His main interests are within material research related to industrial processes for metal production which has resulted in about 100 scientific publications. He has also coordinated many national research programs with industrial participation. He served as the Editor of TMS Light Metals in 2017 (tms.org). He is currently the Project Coordinator for the SecREEts project (Secure European Critical Rare Earth Elements) funded by EU Horizon 2020.
